Who actually runs the casino in Kamloops?
Cascades Casino Kamloops is a BCLC casino, operated by Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited. BCLC manages every form of commercial gambling in British Columbia, casinos and online play included. The province permits gambling only when its own government is the operator.
The casino opened on August 19, 2015. This guide is independent of it and of Gateway, and it takes no bets.
Is there anything here besides the games?
Yes, a few things. The casino offers complimentary coffee, meeting and event space, and a GameSense Info Centre on site. GameSense is BCLC's information program about how games work and about keeping play in check.
Groups and events of 15 to 330 people can reserve a room, with options such as the Atlas Room and the Bud Room. That second space is private and has a pool table plus a bar of its own. Reservations for it are handled by MATCH Eatery & Public House, the pub and sports bar at the casino.
Can you stay the night at the casino?
No, there is no hotel at the casino. It also publishes no shuttle, no taxi stand and no rideshare pickup point. The floor closes at midnight Sunday to Thursday, and at 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Plan the ride home before closing time. Holiday hours can be checked on the casino line, 250-372-3336.
What exactly is Chances Kamloops?
Chances Kamloops is a community gaming centre: a smaller hall built around machines and screens. It is at 1250 Halston Avenue, 6.2 km from Cascades Casino Kamloops in a straight line. Gateway has owned it since January 2019. The phone number is 250-554-1030.
Inside there are over 200 slots from 1¢ to $1, plus electronic tables. It also has a racebook, which means betting on horse races shown on screens, with self-serve wagering terminals. Those terminals are machines where guests place their own bets. The Barside Lounge & Grill is in the same building.
More quick questions
Is the coffee really complimentary?
Yes, the coffee is complimentary. It is part of what the casino provides on site, along with free parking.
Can I book a room for a birthday group?
Yes, provided the group has 15 to 330 people. The casino takes room bookings for groups and events in that range. The Bud Room, private and equipped with a pool table and its own bar, is booked through MATCH at 250-852-6555.
Where do I find this month's events?
On the casino's own website, cascadescasinokamloops.com, which keeps a page for them. Events there change often, so that page is the place to check, not this guide.
